Obama: The Musical and Other Tasty Bites
Thank God it’s a Friday theater news update!
The New York Times reports that the Obama 2012 campaign has chosen to launch its fundraising efforts with a night at Broadway’s Sister Act. For the June 23rd performance, $10,000 will get you a seat for the show and a photo op with the President.
- What do you do after you’ve been nominate for your first Oscar and the world is at your feet? Head to Off-Broadway. Or at least that’s what Jessie Eisenberg (The Social Network) is doing this fall. He will star in his self-penned play Asuncion, produced by Rattlestick Playwrights Theater starting October 12.
- The musical adaptation of Tales of the City opened in San Francisco this week to generally good reviews. Expect the scent of patchouli to waft over Broadway in the near future.
