Seth Rudetsky & Sirius/XM Radio Present New Music Theater
If you love being ahead of the culture curve, check out Sirius/XM Radio’s “On Broadway” channel today from 5pm – 9pm; music theater bon vivant Seth Rudetsky will be shaking up his usual “Seth’s Big Fat Broadway” show by spinning exclusive music from up-and-coming composers. The set will feature rare demos and new recordings from award-winning young teams including Michael Koomin & Christopher Dimond (2010 Jonathan Larson Grant recipients) and Kait Kerrigan & Brian Lowdermilk (the team behind the current Goodspeed premiere The Unauthorized Biography of Samantha Brown). And — self-promotion warning — a song by me and my writing partner Curtis Moore.
What makes the show even more special is that the songs are not selected by industry insiders but by Doug and Jenn Smith, husband and wife music theater fans from Austin, Texas. For a number of years, the Smiths have been the highest bidders in an Actor’s Fund auction to be co-host for the day with Seth. Amazingly, instead of choosing classic showtunes, they use their airtime to give exposure to young writers, actively seeking out new work on their own time.
Need a little more incentive to listen in? After the jump, watch Catch Me If You Can‘s Aaron Tveit sing a live version of one song you’ll hear in the show, Kerrigan & Lowdermilk’s “Run Away with Me”…
