THEATER BUFF: Andrew Brewer of “Sex Tips…”
Every third Wednesday of the month, a fabulous actor/singer/dancer fills out contributor Tom Mizer’s nosey little questionnaire and offers a glimpse of what he looks like from a bit closer than the mezzanine. For February, we’ve got just the right guy to show you how it’s done…
Name: Andrew Brewer
Show/Role: Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man / Stefan
The best part of the show I’m working on now is: Getting to share the stage with two incredible actors. Jason and Lindsay are just the best and it’s a blast to be up there every night with them.
If I wasn’t an actor, I would be: A teacher. I wanted to go to school for math education before I got into acting so I would probably try for that.
Places, Intermission or Curtain Call? Places. There’s something about that moment as the lights are going dark and the show is starting that just sends every fear and doubt about acting or being in a show to the forefront of my mind. Then one step onto that stage and it all goes away.
The best post-show cocktail in New York City is at: I will say the Blarney Stone Pub, they have some amazing Bud Light.
After you’ve hit all the traditional sites of New York City, you should totally go to: Olive Garden. Hands down best Italian in the city.
If I could live anywhere else in the world it would be: Indoors, I am an actor… or Cancun.
Baby, it’s cold outside! What’s your favorite way to keep warm on these long, dark days? Cuddling up under the blankets with my beautiful girlfriend and watching Netflix.
My workout “secret” is: Go to the gym. I’m not good at all at working out at home, and my hardest battle is to just get out of the house and get to the gym. No problems once I’m there, just have to go.
When I’m looking for a date, nothing attracts me more than: A good smile. Teeth are a plus, while not required.
My favorite website to visit that you may not have heard of is: Myspace, heard of it?
Board shorts, speedo or skinny dip? I prefer a 1920’s one piece. Very slimming.
People would be surprised to learn that I: Play the clarinet. Yeah, I was in band.
Ten years from now I’d like to be: A dad.
When I was 10, I wanted to be just like: Michelangelo from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Orange, nunchuks, and lots of pizza.
If I had my own Winter Olympics, I’d definitely win the gold in: Curling, because I can sweep like a 1950’s housewife.
Sex Tips for Straight Women from a Gay Man is now playing at The 777 Theater in New York City.
