It was quite the night at the 75th annual Tony Awards: host Ariana DeBose performed a rousing ode to Broadway in the telecast’s opening number, Joaquina Kalukango burned the house down in her soaring song from Paradise Square, and fan favorite musical A Strange Loop took away the top honor of Best Musical. At this year’s Tony Awards, voters seemed to spread the love: no show swept, though The Lehman Trilogy did win five Tonys while MJ won four. Nonetheless, many were honored from varying shows.
