With a name like Mizer, you know I love a good deal (sing it Liza lovers: it’s Mizer with a “z” not Miser with an “s”). I’m always happy to pass along insider discounts when I hear about them. With the winter doldrums setting in, Off-Broadway is trying to light a little fire under the box office with some great offers.
First up, those delightfully twisted kids at Silence: The Musical! are celebrating their move to an open ended run at The 9th Space Theater at P.S. 122 – 150 First Avenue at 9th street with a great deal for anyone in-the-know. Get $39 seats (that’s 35% off for you math inclined folks) by going to their ticket site, using discount code HHCGEN39 and selecting seats in the “FBI Headquarters” zone. [Here’s the fine print: Offer valid through 3/1/12. Offer may be revoked at anytime and is subject to availability. Not valid on prior purchase. Offer cannot be combined with other discounts or promotions; blackout dates and restrictions may apply. Maximum of 4 tickets total with offer.]
Meanwhile, much of the Off-Broadway community is participating in an even bigger discount offer. For the sixth year, the Off-Broadway Alliance is sponsoring their popular 20at20 program. Between January 18 and February 6, show up 20 minutes before curtain to a listed show (including Silence, Rent, Freud’s Last Session, Million Dollar Quartet and more), mention “20at20” and you’ll get a ticket for only $20. Plus, you can also get a free dinner for two if you attend seven shows. Sounds like a great way to catch up on some of the best theater in New York.
