Our new series continues, where we wish our favorite performers a happy birthday and offer our readers an exclusive look at some of their most memorable performances. Happy birthday to Max von Essen! Max is back on Broadway for the seventh time in Anastasia, playing the role of Gleb. He was nominated for both a Tony Award for Best Performance by an actor in a featured role in a musical as well as a Drama Desk Award for his performance in An American in Paris.
What fans might not know is that Max as also Ricky Martin’s understudy in the short-lived 2012 revival of Evita. Now that’s a new Argentina that we would have liked to have seen! He also toured as a backup singer for Liza Minelli (cue jazz hands).
