Are you going to have a Broadway Valentine’s Day? There’s nothing better than watching two characters catch feelings on stage and profess their sentiments in musical theater bliss. Thanks to cast recordings, we can listen to these songs whenever (and wherever) we want and, once again, get swept away by the romance.
We’ve compiled a list of 10 of our favorite Broadway love songs. Some are classics, others will be arriving on Broadway soon, but the one thing they have in common is that they’ll tug at your heartstrings. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Hadestown (soon to be at the Walter Kerr Theatre) — “Wedding Song” (Anaïs Mitchell & Justin Vernon)
The Prom (Longacre Theatre) — “Dance with You” (Caitlin Kinnunen and Isabelle McCalla)
Frozen (St. James Theatre)— “What Do You Know About Love?” (Patti Murin & Jelani Alladin)
Dear Evan Hansen (The Music Box Theatre) — “Only Us” (Ben Platt & Laura Dreyfuss)
Waitress (Brooks Atkinson Theatre) — “You Matter to Me” (Jessie Mueller & Drew Gehling)
Hamilton (Richard Rodgers Theatre) — “Helpless” (Phillipa Soo)
Wicked — “As Long As You’re Mine” (Idina Menzel & Norbert Leo Butz)
The Lion King — “Can You Feel the Love Tonight” (Heather Headley & Jason Raize)
BONUS: we’re so excited for the St. Ann’s Warehouse production of Oklahoma! to make its way to Broadway this season at the Circle in the Square Theatre. Here’s “People Will Say We’re In Love” from Oklahoma! the film, sung by Shirley Jones and Gordon MacRae. We’re looking forward to how stars Rebecca Naomi Jones and Damon Duanno will take this classic in the revival, which starts previews on March 19.
And in the Rodgers & Hammerstein vein, we’d be remiss if we didn’t include “If I Loved You” from the recently closed Carousel, performed by Jessie Mueller and Joshua Henry.
