The show must go online! BroadwayCon, the annual convention for fans and stars of Broadway, has pivoted to online programming this year to engender community even during COVID. Digital passes are now on sale for the streamed events, which will take place Saturday, April 17, and Sunday, April 18.
Digital passes range are priced in tiers from $25 to $500; each level comes with access to a virtual swag pack and the MainStage live stream, and upper levels unlock other gifts, like a 2021 BroadwayCon Badge and Lanyard mailed to participants.
No convention is complete without CosPlay content, and BroadwayCon’s will be held on April 18; the deadline to enter the contest is April 2. Instructions on rules and how to enter the contest can be found here. Other digital events include a Lip Sync Battle and Star to Be Contest.
Additionally, participants can enjoy Meet and Greet events where Broadway fans can meet their favorite stars online. If you enjoy stage dooring, this might be for you: available experiences include recorded messages, 10-minute virtual drop-ins, individual meet and greets, and group meet and greets. Longer coaching sessions are also available. Some of the many stars who are offering meet and greets, coachings, and more include Andrew Barth Feldman, Kerry Butler, Jenn Colella, Carolee Carmello, Grey Henson, Patti Muron, Alex Brightman, Ann Harada, Laura Osnes, Anthony Rapp, and Fredi Walker-Brown, amongst others.
A full schedule of events has yet to be released, but the website did note the following for its itinerary: “Dive into a conversation with stage managers, register for a fan meetup, or get a sneak peek as some of the biggest shows ready their returns to the Great Bright Way! Each day, we’ll be bringing you a few hours of your favorite BroadwayCon programming.”
