He’s dressed supermodels and hung out with Hillary Clinton, sold his wares on QVC, and even designed and directed opera. Now Isaac Mizrahi returns to the stage (he did, after all, go to New York City’s famous High School for Performing Arts) in his latest cabaret show, Isaac Mizrahi: Movie Stars and Supermodels (January 21 – February) at the Café Carlyle.
Mizrahi’s previous residencies in the room were sellouts, receiving widespread critical acclaim. Accompanied by his band of jazz musicians led by Ben Waltzer, Mizrahi will perform a range of tunes by the likes of John Denver, Bill Withers, Cy Coleman and Stephen Sondheim. Also expect dish on model fittings, intimate dinners and exclusive parties with Hollywood’s elite. He’ll share hilarious musings on everything of the moment from politics to dieting to his latest Instagram obsessions.
This month marks the 25th anniversary of Unzipped, the documentary that revealed the ups and downs of being a fashion designer long before the Project Runway catchphrase, “One day you’re in. The next day you’re out.” He hosted his own television talk show The Isaac Mizrahi Show for seven years, has written three books (including his memoir I.M. released last year) and has made countless appearances in movies and on television. He served as a judge on Project Runway: All-Stars for the series’ entire seven-season run, and celebrates his tenth year on QVC.
Mizrahi has his own production company, Isaac Mizrahi Entertainment, under which he has several projects in development in television, theater and literature.
