I don’t need anything for Christmas this year because one of my biggest holiday dreams already came true.
At the holiday party for my corporate day job (yes, tis true, I do not make my living from the genius that is this blog), the company’s CEO revealed a special guest to get us into the holiday mood: the fabulous Darlene Love! Ms. Love is not only a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee with a treasure trove of amazing recordings but she also happens to sing my favorite pop Christmas carol of all time. Like David Letterman, I can’t have Christmas without hearing her sing “Christmas/Baby Please Come Home.”
And last week, she sang it for me (ok, and a few hundred other people) live and in person. Amazing. I’m not ashamed to admit I got a little teary.
I can’t get you that experience, but here she is singing it on last year’s annual Letterman appearance…
Broadway, you say? What does this have to do with Broadway? Ms. Love, in addition to a number of other credits, just so happens to have also starred in a little Broadway musical called Carrie…
Yeah. She’s cool like that.
Happy Holidays…may all your Christmas wishes come true.
